Nasalis is a facial muscle responsible for compressing the bridge of the nose and flaring the nostrils, playing a vital role in facial expression and regulating airflow for breathing.

The name "nasalis" derives from Latin, where "nasus" means "nose," indicating its location and function related to the nose.

Without the nasalis, a person might find it difficult to express certain facial emotions involving the nose, such as disdain or surprise, and could also experience impaired nasal breathing regulation.
