The teres minor is a narrow rotator cuff muscle located on the posterior scapula. It works with the infraspinatus to externally rotate the arm at the shoulder joint. The muscle also helps stabilize the glenohumeral joint during arm movements.
The name combines Latin "teres" meaning round or smooth and "minor" meaning smaller, describing its rope-like shape and smaller size compared to teres major.
