Hypothenar Eminence is a muscular prominence on the palm's ulnar side, primarily composed of the abductor digiti minimi, flexor digiti minimi brevis, and opponens digiti minimi muscles. This structure functions to control the movements of th little finger, aiding in grip and precision tasks. It provides critical support and flexibility for hand movements, especially those that involve the pinky finger.

The term "hypothenar" is derived from Greek, where "hypo" means under and "thenar" refers to the palm of the hand, indicating its location beneath the palm on the ulnar side.

Without the Hypothenar Eminence, the ability to perform intricate manipulations, such as typing, playing instruments, or gripping objects tightly with the little finger's assistance, would be significantly impaired, affecting overall hand function and dexterity.
